Generally we feel that this forces us to start subsequent projects even earlier to have a sufficient time buffer and run them in parallel, build more detailed plans with exact delivery dates for each milestone and (micro-)manage our teams better. You might even have introduced Kanban into your organisation and applied Work in Progress (WIP) limits at team level - often without much positive impact on project throughput or timeliness.

In this webinar Mark Geschke started us off by showing a short simulation to visualise the core problem of our ingrained behavior and what effect limiting the amount of concurrent projects in turn can have. On the basis of that we had a conversation with our panel of accomplished managers about their practical experiences and how they tackled this thorny issue and also answered some questions from the audience.
