Norfolk & Western 475: The Last Day of Summer at the Strasburg Rail Road 2024 (4K)

Описание к видео Norfolk & Western 475: The Last Day of Summer at the Strasburg Rail Road 2024 (4K)

On September 21st, along side the Day Out with Thomas Trains, Norfolk & Western 475 would lead the Regular trains on the Last Day of Summer. I felt it was fitting to see the 475 leading the Passenger Trains along side the Day Out with Thomas Trains. As 475 was in Thomas & The Magic Railroad, and was the Rainbow Sun, that brought Mara Wilsons Character to Shining Time. The clip of 475 coming back with the 6 PM Trip is a tribute to a scene in that movie. The last time I saw 475, my Video camera bit the dust, and I had to salvage what I could and I wasn't to happy with the result. This time? I am happy to present a MUCH better video, with my new Camera! The Day out with Thomas Trains only ran to Groffs Grove this year, which is where the meets happened from The 11-4 PM trains. I did include the same clips of 475 & Thomas passing one another. From a day that started out with overcast, to Sunny, then overcast again in the Farm Lands of Amish Country Pennsylvania, I Hope you enjoy my coverage of 475 on the Last day of Summer 2024!

I ran into ‪@DroppedSignal‬ various different times that day on the Road to Paradise.

The Norfolk & Western 475 is the oldest operational steam locomotive at the Strasburg Railroad. It was built in June of 1906 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works, as an M Class 4-8-0 Steam Locomotive for the Norfolk & Western Railway. It would operate until the late 50s before being retired. It moved around over the years, and at one point was at the Illinois Railway Museum. However in the early 90s it was purchased by the Strasburg Railroad, and restored to operation in November of 1993. It has since operated for the Strasburg Railroad, and is the only operational 4-8-0 in the US. It also appeared in a movie I saw in the theaters as a kid, Thomas & The Magic Railroad in 2001 as scenes for the movie were filmed at the Strasburg Railroad and Harrisburg Amtrak Station.

While this be my last visit to Strasburg, for 2024, the Fall Foliage Season is here. If all goes well this up coming weekend, I will be back out chasing Arcade & Attica 18 on some Fall Foliage Trains. After that, I look forward to seeing 765, #1225 #1702 & #4501 during the fall season. Then with the Holiday Season up coming, I look forward to seeing both #154 & #113 If you want to stay up to date with my adventures please give me a follow on one of my socials below!
