I’m a cult leader, a trust fund baby, a cuck, a conspiracy theorist, and a snake oil salesman.
At least that’s what you’ll find somewhere in the bowels of a Reddit thread. But the truth is far more interesting. The irony is that I have plenty of flaws and reasons to take a crack at me. Addictions, failures, breakups - and I’ve always been committed to share all of it. Plus, my first company I worked for was Fleshlight–That’s right, squishy vaginas in an oversized flashlight canister.
With that out of the way, my story begins with a self-made dad, a commodities trader, and a mom who was a Wimbledon semifinalist. In 1999, I was a varsity basketball captain and party guy, until a plant medicine ceremony turned me from an angry atheist into a believer in God. Over 25 years, I’ve explored the world’s great psychedelic traditions.
In 2011, I had my first ayahuasca experience, changed my name to Aubrey, and co-founded Onnit with Joe Rogan, starting with $110,000 from friends. Onnit’s Alpha Brain was called snake oil, so we ran clinical trials, proving skeptics wrong. I sold Onnit in 2021, going from no savings to an absurd bank account. I gave much to charity and ran Fit For Service, which earned me the “cult leader” label. January is my last event, making me a ‘retired cult leader.’
I’ve done crazy things: chartered boats in Greece, threw a donation-based music festival (bad idea), and lavished my wife, Vylana, a Tahitian dancing, sound-healing goddess. Before her, I tried polyamory with my fiancé Whitney Miller. It was beautiful and brutal—every time she spent the night with another man, I wanted to scream, vomit, and cry. People called me a ‘cuck,’ but I’ve since found a joyful, unconventional love with Vylana.
In 2018, a car crash gave me the ‘hunchback of Nostrildamus’ nose. I host a podcast with 500 episodes, wrote Own The Day, Own Your Life, and made documentaries about my psychonautic journeys. I also questioned the safety of the “jab” early, earning the “conspiracy theorist” label—an honor, as the conspiracy now has receipts.
I supported Bobby Kennedy’s presidential run and call him a friend. I’ve found brotherhood with Jake Paul and am helping launch The Round Table, a fellowship of change-makers.
I live life on my terms. I’m not a renunciate ascetic or a rainbows-and-butterflies new-ager. I’m a man of unshakable faith in God—Mother Gaia, Yeshua, Shekinah, Buddha, Tao, and beyond. I see God as much in nightclubs as in churches.
I’m a lineage carrier of Cosmo-Erotic Humanism and the wisdom of Solomon through Rebbe Gafni, and a psychedelic lineage bearer of Don Howard Lawler, whose crest I wear tattooed on my hand. These lineages guide my wild life.
I’m releasing a poetry book, Love to the Seventh Power, categorizing 83 poems into seven types of love, and working on You vs. Anti-You, a 140,000-word opus about staring the Devil in the mirror.
Through the Aubrey Marcus Collective, I’m involved in companies like Metalmark, Black Swan Yoga, and Sayu. I’m also launching Korrect with a flagship energy product working on the dopamine system, as revolutionary as Alpha Brain.
For the haters, this won’t change your mind, and that’s fine. Love is the whole point. As Ram Das’ teacher said: “Love everyone, and tell the truth.”
What will they say about me? I hope they’ll say I lived fully, loved the Goddess, cared for family, and fought for a “More Beautiful World.” Every morning, I strive to be better. I am Aubrey Marcus, and this is my truth.
