Speaking up for yourself when you go to the doctor can be a really hard thing to do. Find out how to be a strong patient advocate by asking your doctor useful questions, and ultimately trusting yourself above all else.

The backstory: Despite being a VERY experienced patient, I found myself totally taken by surprise at the doctor’s office a few weeks ago when I was diagnosed with a detached retina, and offered a very simple in-office laser procedure to fix the problem. Problem was, the solution seemed so simple, it only dawned on me a few minutes before it started I hadn’t asked any pertinent questions about it. This video is about what happened, how I advocated for myself, and what I learned from the experience.
