Record Store Day Black Friday Must Have! Bill Evans In Norway!

Elemental Music and Resonance Records have sent promo copies of the new releases coming out on Record Store Day Black Friday 2024. Among the releases are a stunning set from Bill Evans, as well as interesting releases by Al Jarreau, B.B. King, Emily Remler and Sun Ra.
Record Store Day is on Friday, Nov 29th.

The Bill Evans In Norway title is a two record set recorded in 1970 at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival in Norway. Featuring a trio including featuring Eddie Gomez on bass and Marty Morell on drums, this is a well recorded set produced by Zev Feldman working with The Kongsbberg Jazz Festival Archives and The Bill Evans Estate. Mastered by Matthew Luthans at The Mastering Lab in Salina Kansas.
The release included a 15 page color booklet with rare photos and interviews.
All of this year's releases were sourced from good to great recordings and will be sure to please fans of each artist. I chose to highlight this one because I found it to be most to my taste, both musically and sonically compelling.

Note: There are two minor sonic artifacts on the original tape during A1 and A2 of the Bill Evans records. A low level buzz is heard from the left channel momentarily during each track. It is a minor blemish that is isolated to these two spots and doesn't take away from the overall beauty of this disc.

There is no pressing plant indicated, but these were quite good for a non-premium release. Discs are housed in nice poly-lined paper sleeves. Vinyl is mostly quiet. I highly suggest a vacuum or untrasonic cleaning before play. Jacket printing is very good but the direct to board jackets are are average compared to premium Stoughton type jackets we see on audiophile releases.
