A Pilgrim's Progress: IN SEARCH OF THE LOST ENGLISH SAMURAI.

Описание к видео A Pilgrim's Progress: IN SEARCH OF THE LOST ENGLISH SAMURAI.

During the era of the Tokugawa shoguns, religious and spiritual pilgrimages became immensely popular in Japan, and have remained so into modern times. Why did such pilgrimages only gain mass appeal in the Edo period though? When looking into this, I spotted a link between the reasons why, and my search for the descendants of Will Adams, in his former domains...

The footage recorded for this clip was taken on the Pilgrimage trail to the seven lucky gods (Shichifukujin Meguri), in Kanazawa, Yokohama.

The seven lucky gods are Fukurokuju, Benten/Benzaiten, Daikoku, Bishamonten, Ebisu, Hotei and Jurojin.
