Software Heritage is an ambitious nonprofit, entirely Free/Open-Source Software (FOSS) initiative that aims at collecting, organizing, preserving for the very long term, and sharing all publicly available software in source code form, together with the corresponding complete development history where available.

In this two-part video tutorial, we want to provide guidance regarding how to archive legacy source code in Software Heritage universal source code archive. By legacy, we mean any source code which has not been developed with a modern versioning system such as Git. This process is called SWHAP for Software Heritage Acquisition Process and was initially designed by the University of Pisa and Software Heritage, then further developed by Software Heritage and Inria.
