The Mumbai-Ahmedabad rail corridor is advancing rapidly with major upgrades, including the complete installation of fencing and near-completion of the Kavach (Train Collision Avoidance System). Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that the corridor will be operational at speeds of up to 160 km/h by mid-2025. Technological improvements include the installation of RFID tags for enhanced monitoring and the fitting of Kavach systems along tracks and trains for safety. The project also features telecom towers for seamless connectivity and innovative fencing solutions reducing wildlife and cattle intrusions by 70-90%. Additionally, sharp curves are being removed to enhance speed and safety.
