Procedure for BIS Certification for using the ISI Mark | ISI Mark Certification | Corpbiz

There are two procedures available to get the #BIS #certification for the #ISI mark:

1. Normal Procedure and
2. Simplified Procedure

Normal Procedure

Option –I:- the complete certification process through normal procedure takes around 60 to 65 days

There is total of four steps under normal procedure:
Preparation of
1. Documents, samples according to the applicable Indian standard and in-house laboratory as mentioned in Scheme of Inspection and Testing–

After completing these requirements applying party can proceed for submission of the application.

2. BIS officer will scrutinize the application submitted by applying party and will conduct an inspection of products along with the factory or industry.

3. Once the inspection is completed, the sealed samples of the product are further sent for testing at the BIS approved laboratories.

4. If the product confirms all the required parameters only then does it get approved by the BIS, and the authority issues the BIS certificate to Indian Manufacturers.

Simplified Procedure

option –II:- the complete certification process through a simplified procedure takes around 35 to 40 days

This procedure of BIS Certification is much faster than compared to the Normal-procedure. There are a total of Five steps under

1. Initially, the applying party has to get their product tested by a laboratory approved by BIS as per applicable Indian Standard.

2. Afterward, the applicant has to submit an online BIS application and BIS Certification fees along with other required sets of documents including test reports.

3. BIS officer will scrutinize the application submitted by applying party and will conduct an inspection of products along with the factory or industry.

4. Once the inspection is completed, the sealed samples of the product are further sent for testing at the BIS approved laboratories.

5. Then after a successful preliminary inspection, the BIS officials will approve the application for Grant of Licence according to the commended standards.

The benefit of a Simplified procedure is BIS officials will not wait for the test results of the samples sealed at the time of inspection to grant the license, they will grant the license on the basis of test report submitted at the time of submission of application.

Currently, there are 738 products that are mandatory to get the license through Simplified procedure only.
