One thing I have learned over the years is that fish don't care how much our fishing gear costs! From a fishing reel standpoint, nicer reels just feel better to use. What if you could take an inexpensive reel and make it a little nicer to use? That is what I will be doing in this video. We are going to upgrade the cheap reel in an UglyStik combo and increase the bearing count from 1 to 5 ball bearings by replacing the nylon bushings with ball bearings.
Is the upgrade necessary? Well no, but it does make the reel a little nicer to use. If you ever wanted to know if it is possible to upgrade a cheap spinning reel or how to do a cheap reel upgrade, here is your answer. I have done this mod to several different reels over the years and it has always been a worthwhile modification in my opinion.
