I Climbed a Tower with Stunning Views! | Pieterpad Hike Day 11: Tolkamer to Braamt

Join me on Day 11 of my Pieterpad adventure, hiking northbound from Tolkamer to Braamt! This 21km stretch of the Netherlands’ most famous long-distance trail offers a mix of riverside paths, forests, and even a detour into Germany. The highlight? Climbing the 26-meter Hulzenberg watchtower, perched on an 82-meter hill, for breathtaking panoramic views!

Unlike most hikers, I’m tackling the Pieterpad northbound, covering its 500km distance in 26 stages. Today’s journey started along the scenic Rhine and nearby lakes, where I spotted plenty of waterbirds. Then, I ventured into the rolling forests before reaching my final stop in Braamt.

To make the logistics work, I parked my car in Braamt the night before, slept in it, and then took an early morning bus-train-bus combo back to my starting point in Tolkamer. If you’re planning your own hike, you might also want to check out the Pieterpad Vervoer Facebook group, where volunteers offer rides for a small fee.
