Boys and men in the modern world are falling behind in education, increasingly disconnected from work, disproportionately the victims of “deaths of despair,” and filling diminished family roles. Richard Reeves’s new book, Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do About It (Brookings Institution Press, 2022), details this “male malaise” and offers provocative solutions to overcome it.

Richard V. Reeves, the John C. and Nancy D. Whitehead Chair and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, will join Kay Hymowitz of the Manhattan Institute and AEI’s Beth Akers, Ryan Streeter, and Scott Winship to discuss the book’s themes and proposals.
