Moldova’s state owned rail company CFM is most interesting for railway enthusiasts. For addicts of diesel operated trains, it’s a paradise: the whole CFM network is non electric. CFM operates some fine long distance passenger trains, especially to Moscow, St Petersburg and Bucharest. Regional traffic is the job of the DMU built by Ganz Mavag, Hungary, the D1.
