Leasing VS Exclusive Beats. :: Producer's 20/20 Vision

Leasing Beats is an ideal way for a producer to resell the same beat multiple times. But it's impossible for a serious rapper or label to put a budget behind a leased beat--they need an exclusive beat. Is it better to make a lot of money from one beat that doesn't go very far (unless it randomly takes off) or to make money from the back end of songs that stream well and are promoted and marketed properly. I believe there may be a middle ground here for producers--where you have some tracks that are leased and some tracks that are for rappers who make money with their music.
