Do you guys remember that period of time in 2016 when a bunch of evil clowns haunted society for a couple months? No, it wasn't a fever dream. But now that some time has passed, I wanted to take a look back at the whole clown epidemic and examine what exactly happened. And not in a way that those horror video essay channels do where they try to make it scarier than it actually was. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty scary. But at the end of the day it was a bunch of grown men wearing costumes to freak people out. And apparently it all started because a guy in Wisconsin wanted to promote his indie horror film. Perhaps the only real clown was him. But the resulting epidemic grew so far out of control that clown sightings were being reported in multiple countries, causing concerned citizens to arm themselves and call the cops on well-meaning children. It was basically a mix of mass hysteria and a few legitimate clown attacks. Somewhere in here is a sociology lesson on group panic and the fine line between justice and authoritarianism. But you don't come to me for that stuff. I guess you don't come to me to read the descriptions of the videos either.
