Clean and Green Programme
Intro
Our school is a Basic Education Middle School located in No. (1) Myauk Kone Ward, Gangaw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region. It is beautifully surrounded by the scenic Pontaung-Ponnyar mountain range and the tranquil Myithar River flowing northward from the south.

Our school has over 700 students and a total of 25 staff members, including the principal, teachers, and office staff. The school compound spans 1.16 acres and includes five classroom buildings.

Students are actively involved in cleaning assigned areas within the classroom blocks and school campus based on their respective groups and grade levels.

Every Monday and Friday, we hold a flag-hoisting ceremony where we sing the national anthem and the Myanmar school song to show respect to our nation.

Afterward, students participate in prayer activities in the school’s prayer hall.

When class time begins, lessons for each subject are taught according to grade level.

Participation in the Clean and Green Award Competition

To participate in the Clean and Green Award, our school has been working in accordance with 4 basic standards and 17 indicators.

Indicator 1:

On 23rd June 2025, a Clean and Green Committee was formed, comprising students, parents, teachers, and school council leaders to systematically implement cleanliness and greening activities.

Indicator 2:

In line with the 4 basic standards, the school developed and implemented environmental action plans that suit the local context of the campus.

Indicator 3:

Students created environmental-themed paintings and posters, which are displayed on bulletin boards. Essay and poem competitions were also held, and the works are exhibited for everyone to study. Additionally, environmental slogans are posted around the school compound.

Indicator 4:

The committee monitors ongoing activities and tracks progress through regular reviews, including quarterly evaluations and an annual report.

Indicator 5:

Teachers use environmental education textbooks and lesson plans to teach students, while encouraging them to read educational materials in the school library, enhancing the quality of learning.

Indicator 6:

Students participate in practical environmental activities such as cleaning, washing restrooms, planting trees and flowers, growing vegetables, and landscaping the campus.

Indicator 7:

Class-level initiatives like the Green Club focus on watering and caring for plants, while the Water Saving Club teaches water conservation practices.

Indicator 8:

Students use recycled materials such as discarded tyres and water bottles to create planters and decorative items, enhancing environmental education.

Indicator 9:

Water-saving habits are taught by encouraging the use of only necessary amounts of handwashing and drinking water. Wastewater from handwashing basins is redirected to water flowerbeds, promoting resource efficiency.

Indicator 10:

A monitoring team ensures that only clean and healthy snacks are sold at the school canteen, free from harmful ingredients.

Indicator 11:

Based on land availability, the school grows a variety of plants including short-term and long-term trees, fruit-bearing plants, seasonal vegetables, herbal plants, and air-purifying plants, with responsibilities shared among school council groups.

Indicator 12:

Proper waste management systems have been established. Students are trained to separate waste types and dispose of them systematically using labeled bins.

Indicator 13:

In a practical science activity, students were taught to purify water using a four-layer filter made of charcoal, sand, gravel, and cotton, demonstrating innovation in environmental protection.

Indicator 14:

Environmental awareness talks were organized for parents to encourage clean and green practices not only in school but also at home and in their communities.

Indicator 15:

Clean-up activities such as garbage collection, general cleaning, weeding, and tree planting were conducted with the participation of both students and their parents.

Indicator 16:

Teachers from BEHMS-Myauk Kone visited BEPS-Tat Twin School, which is also implementing Clean and Green programs, to study their strengths and areas for improvement.

Indicator 17:

Environmental protection talks and educational sessions were organized in collaboration with the Environmental Conservation Department, Forestry Department, and Public Health Department to enhance knowledge and awareness.
