Born Survivor - Story of the Dexter - Heritage Cattle

Back in 2019, armed with my trusty GH5 and sigma art lens, I had the absolute pleasure of filming Eavaun Carmody's story. Or at least a very small part of it, as she is a lady of extra ordinary qualities. This tale began at the Killenure Castle in Tipperary, Ireland.

She took me in and introduced me to not only the most charismatic bovine I've ever seen, but also a group of devoted custodians of nature. In this film you will get to know a few of her friends, including Lar, Euguene and Seamus.

The story of the Dexter is a fascinating one, a rare breed developed for a specific purpose that has faced extinction several times.

I enjoyed my time massively filming this project and I'm i've finally given it the time it deserves in the editing suite. I have a few more shorter videos relating to the Dexter on the way too.
