I was a 20 year old U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook Helicopter pilot in Vietnam in late 1968 and all of 1969, based in Phu Bai, I Corp Vietnam. I flew for the 'Pachyderms' of A Co. 159th ASHB in the 101st Airborne Division. This video was captured from a Power Point slide show I made in 2006 for the 101st Division reunion in Minneapolis, MN. Included are many pictures taken by me and taken by others in the three Chinook Companies that I downloaded on-line. I tried to give photo credits to all of the pix. There are some pretty neat photos that give a feel of life in a Chinook company back then.
MILTECH as recently released a wonderful version of the CH-47D for the MSFS 2020 flight simulator. MSFS 2020 user 'Flak' has created a very nice Livery paintjob depicting the markings of the 'Pachyderm' Chinooks that I flew in RVN. The new CH-47 sim model has created a renewed interest in the Chinook. My old Power Point show should be interesting to some folks.
