The water went in is the 7th and closing song and music video from Silva’s debut album, What We Leave behind released Dec 14, 2024. At its heart, The Water Went In is a psychedelic lullaby. It has a stripped down 50’s chord progression flooded with a unique bridge that mirrors the overwhelming nature of a spiritual experience. “I’m sorry, The water went in anyway it could… “ This is Silva’s oldest song and was written when he was in his late teens during and intense period of mental health struggles while listening to John lennon’s solo music. The music video features the songwriter’s partner, Ellen Blazich and shows her getting back to creating art something he has witnessed firsthand and is inspired to document. There are many candid shots in the video of art being made and it is loaded with symbolism. The Statue can be seen as the artists double, a saboteur or the inner child where creativity blossoms when given support. This video investigates what it means to create in a world that is constantly devaluing the creative act and how to surround your own world with grace and gratitude.

As a Guitarist and Singer-Songwriter, Dustin Silva is a rare combination of technical virtuosity and raw, emotional intensity. His songs have been described as various crosses between Elliott Smith, Bon Iver, Sparklehorse, Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake and Radiohead. Heavy themes make up his songs. His unique perspective is informed by a chronic struggle with illness (diabetes, depression, OCD) and his mothers 20 year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. His music is both cathartic and personal with lyrics that use evocative imagery to interrogate the nature of suffering and the journey back into health. His long anticipated, debut solo EP was fully released in Sept, 2023. His debut album was fully released in Dec, 2024 and features the beautiful harmonies of Holly Sheehy and the brilliant drumming of Elizabeth Goodfellow of (Iron & Wine, boygenius and Calexico. ) Dustin lives in Portland, OR.
