A Hebridean Odyssey: Part 7 - Isle of Berneray

Описание к видео A Hebridean Odyssey: Part 7 - Isle of Berneray

This video is the seventh in a series that documents a trip taken in May 2022, in which we visited 16 of the Hebridean islands. This episode is a video diary of places visited, scenery seen and roads driven on the Isle of Berneray in the Western Isles, which lies at the northern end of the Uists, but historically was part of South Harris. It is the largest and only populated island in the Sound of Harris. It is linked to the neighbouring island of North Uist by a causeway. Berneray is a small island (roughly 2 miles by 3), rich in wildlife and history, with a stunningly beautiful, long sweep of white sand on the west coast, backed by high dunes and machair. The island has approximately 130 inhabitants. Most people live on the east coast in the spread out settlements of Pol An Nor, Backhill, Ruisgarry and Sandhill. There is also a settlement in the centre of the island known as Borve.
