In August 2019 Freya opened her door to find armed police pointing their guns at her. Her daughter Kiri was quickly arrested for murder.

Kiri was charged with a crime that she didn’t even know had taken place, under the controversial joint enterprise law.

She spent six months in prison before being acquitted, and says her life has changed forever as the experience continues to haunt her.

Guilty Bystander explores the dramatic stories of people convicted under joint enterprise law, charged with a crime they were not present for, or even knew was going to happen.
