Описание к видео Private practice gives me freedom… but no one talks about this part.

Private practice gives me so much freedom—

But it also comes with mini interviews almost every day.

One of the best things about being in private practice is autonomy:

I get to design my days, take mindful breaks, upskill regularly, and hold space for my clients without institutional overwhelm.

But here’s the other side of it—

Since I’m not listed on a clinic’s team page, clients often reach out directly through DMs, emails, or intro calls.

And in those short exchanges…

I sometimes feel like I’m being quietly assessed.

– “What’s your approach?”

– “Will therapy really help me?”

– “How do you handle this kind of issue?”

– “Why should I choose you?”

These aren't bad questions. In fact, they make complete sense.

Therapy is an investment—financially, emotionally, and energetically. People want to feel safe, supported, and understood. And that matters.

But what I’ve noticed is this:

Private practice comes with invisible emotional labor.

I’m not just showing up in the session—I’m also constantly introducing myself before it, again and again.

Sometimes it feels like I’m being asked to “sell” therapy.

Or worse—to “sell myself.”

And that’s where it gets tricky.

Because I’m not a service. I offer one.

So here’s what I’m still learning:

✨ To show up authentically, while maintaining boundaries.

✨ To answer thoughtfully, without overexplaining.

✨ To make space for curiosity, but not convince.

✨ To stay rooted in who I am—not just how I market myself.

This is just me putting this out there—

For other therapists who might feel this too.

And for clients who might be curious about what it’s like behind the scenes.

💬 If you’re a therapist in private practice—how do you handle these micro interactions?

Do you ever feel like you’re constantly being “interviewed” without calling it that?

Let’s talk about it.

Let’s normalize it.
