RESTORE POWER & EFFICIENCY TO YOUR ENGINE | VVT SOLENOID | OIL CONTROL VALVE CLEANING is a detailed tutorial on how to locate, extract, clean, and test the VVT or Variable Valve Timing solenoid, also known as the Oil Control Valve.

The VVT Solenoid can break in half when removed forcibly or improperly. This tutorial provides some tip on how you can minimize the risk of it breaking during extraction. It also shows how you can test if the VVT solenoid is functional using two wire leads.

The VVT (Variable Valve Timing) solenoid or Oil Control Valve controls the oil pressure that actuates the cams which determine the length of time the valves remain open or closed to maximize the engine's power generation and performance.

The VVT or Variable Valve Timing solenoid is controlled by the ECU to make the engine run more efficiently by varying the length of time the valves remain open or closed based on the power demands of the engine at any given time. It does this by manipulating the valves via oil pressure to the camshafts.

When the VVT solenoid is jammed with sludge (or simply worn out with age) it may not be able to actute the cams in time and the engine’s overall performance will be severely affected.

The method demonstrated in this video is for educational purposes only; a tutorial on how you can save money by doing the cleaning and/or replacement yourself. This simple task will go a long way to keeping your car's engine in good shape.
