Check out part 20 of my Xclusive Playthrough featuring the game Biomutant! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series family of consoles on May 25th, 2021. It was developed by Experiment 101 and published by THQ Nordic.

In this video, I continue to explore the open world and defeat a bandit leader named Fruggo.

Biomutant is a third-person action role-playing game set in an open world setting known as the New World. The devs like to describe it as "an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG, with a unique martial arts styled combat system allow you to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action". The story for this game revolves around a world where humans no longer exist and in their stead remains a variety of mutated animals that are trying to either save the world from perishing or trying their best to eradicate all life in order to "start anew". A plague has infected the world and the Tree of Life is bleeding death from its roots. The various Tribes stand divided and only the unusual hero can either unite them or completely destroy them while either saving the world or letting it perish along with all forms of life.

Like any good RPG, this game has a somewhat extensive character creation system which allows you to pick your hero's breed, alter various stats, customize your fur (along with its color) and finally choose your class. Believe it or not, all of these customization options (except for the fur) actually affect your combat style so it's important to adjust all of these options based on how you'd like to play through the game. For instance, heavier characters will be slower, but will be able to take more damage, while smaller characters will be a bit more frail, but will also be more agile. The gameplay in this game is quite unique and interesting as it allows you mix and match melee, ranged and magical combat very fluidly right in the middle of combat. One second you can be hacking and slashing enemies with your weapon of choice and then diving across the air while your shooting your pistol in the next second. Biomutant puts a fairly large focus on freedom of movement during combat and it just feels right.

Just a quick note regarding the achievements: this game is similar to a lot of open-world RPGs where the achievements are quite varied and for the most part can be completed at any point during the game.
