The Library of Alexandria, the greatest collection of ancient manuscripts, existed for nearly a thousand years, amassing over 700,000 volumes, including mystical knowledge from ancient civilizations. Over the centuries, it was repeatedly looted and destroyed, with its final destruction carried out by the Arabs in 646 AD.

The library is believed to have been founded by Demetrius of Phalerum, under the initiative of King Ptolemy I. It flourished until the beginning of the Common Era, housing significant works such as The History of the World by Berossus, which described encounters with mysterious beings called Apkallus, and the writings of the Egyptian priest Manetho, which revealed the secrets of Egypt. Some historians believe that the Book of Thoth was also stored there.

The first looting occurred in 47 BC, when Julius Caesar partially destroyed the library and took some manuscripts. In the 3rd century AD, Emperor Diocletian destroyed works on alchemy, fearing that the Egyptians might produce gold and arm an army. Despite these losses, the library continued to function until the Arabs finally destroyed it. They burned the remaining manuscripts, following the belief that no books were needed other than the Quran.
