Yep, today we’re talking about what could disappear during a home showing—and I’m not just talking about the cookies you left on the counter. I’m talking jewelry, cash, prescription drugs, and weapons. If it’s valuable, it’s vulnerable.
In this real estate short, I’m serving up some serious home selling tips to protect your stuff—and your sanity—during open houses and private showings. Because guess what? Leaving your valuables out is like putting up a neon sign that says:
“Please, help yourself!” 🙄
🚨 What’s at Risk During Showings:
1️⃣ Prescription Drugs – The #1 most stolen item during home showings.
💊 Painkillers, anxiety meds, and other prescriptions can vanish in seconds.
💊 Medicine cabinets? That’s the FIRST place people look.
💊 Even honest people get tempted. Don’t let it happen.
Solution:
✔ Remove ALL prescription meds before showings.
✔ Lock them up securely if they must stay in the home.
✔ If you’ve got elderly family members, double-check their meds too.
2️⃣ Jewelry, Cash, & Collectibles – If it’s shiny or small, it could disappear.
💍 Rings, watches, necklaces – poof!
💵 Even spare change gets snatched.
🎮 Rare items? Vintage collectibles? Gone.
Solution:
✔ Lock valuables in a safe or take them offsite.
✔ Don’t forget about high-end handbags or electronics.
✔ Take photos of irreplaceables—just in case.
3️⃣ Weapons – Even Locked, It’s a Problem
🔫 Firearms, knives, tasers—buyers don’t want to see them.
👶 Kids come to showings too—safety risk alert!
😨 Buyers might assume your neighborhood isn’t safe.
Solution:
✔ Remove ALL weapons from the home before listing.
✔ If not possible, lock them up and make sure they’re out of sight.
✔ Don’t display anything that could freak out buyers (like your decorative sword collection ⚔️).
