For the past three years, the Hon. Arthur Sinodinos AO has served as Australia's Ambassador to the United States, leading the Embassy through a period of significant change. His tenure in Washington has included a global pandemic, a U.S. presidential election, the decision to provide Australia with nuclear-powered submarines (AUKUS), and a change of government in Canberra—and a period of consequential growth in the U.S.-Australian alliance. On Thursday, March 2nd at 4 p.m. EST (March 3rd, 8 a.m AEST), Ambassador Sinodinos will sit down with Dr. Charles Edel, Senior Adviser and Australia Chair at CSIS, to reflect on his three years in Washington and discuss what lies ahead for the U.S.-Australia alliance.

Ambassador Sinodinos was previously Australia’s Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science and was a Senator for New South Wales in the Australian Parliament from 2011 to 2019. During his parliamentary career, he held other key roles in and outside Cabinet, including Cabinet Secretary and Assistant Treasurer. He was also the Chief of Staff to Prime Minister John Howard for ten years.
