The Cranberries Return To Limerick, Ireland 1993

Following a successful American tour, The Cranberries return home to play two Irish dates.

In 1990 the Cranberries played to an audience of 35 people at Limerick’s Theatre Royal. Since then, their debut album, ’Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We’ has sold over one million copies in the United Sates, becoming the most successful debut album by in Irish act there, beating U2 and Sinéad O’Connor.

Following a hugely successful American tour supporting Duran Duran, the Cranberries return to Limerick and receive a Mayoral reception.

The Cranberries drummer, Fergal Lawler, cannot believe the rapturous response to the band’s homecoming.

We weren’t expecting it to be like this at all, we thought we’d be able to relax when we came home but everyone’s gone mad.

Singer with the Cranberries Dolores O’Riordan began her musical career in the Ballybricken church choir. But in spite of success in America she regards Ireland as her home, and is delighted to be back in Limerick.

It’s lovely to come home, and it’s nice, I’m enjoying it, I’m young, 22 years old, the best age to become a star.

The Cranberries play the Limerick Theatre Royal on 17 December and the Dublin Tivoli on 18 December 1993.
