The universe contains hundreds of billions of galaxies. Each galaxy contains hundreds of billions of stars. Around most of those stars are planets. Many of those planets may resemble Earth. By the numbers alone, the cosmos should be filled with life. And yet, when we listen, we hear nothing. No confirmed signals. No visible megastructures. No unmistakable signs of advanced civilizations.
In this video, inspired by the scientific perspective of Carl Sagan, we explore one of the most profound questions in astronomy. If the universe should be full of aliens, where are they. We examine the scale of the cosmos, the probability of life, the Fermi Paradox, the idea of the Great Filter, and the unsettling possibility that intelligence may be rare, fragile, or early.
The silence of the sky may not be empty. It may be meaningful.
