President-designate of Academia Sinica James Liao is set to officially assume his new post tomorrow. One of his first duties will be to visit the Legislature for a question-and-answer session on Wednesday. To prepare for the visit, he met with the legislative caucus leaders from different political parties today. Liao is hoping that a former classmate, KMT legislator Chen Shei-saint, will help him prepare for what promises to be a very difficult test in the legislature.James Liao took the initiative to visit with the leaders of several legislative caucuses. In his meeting with New Power Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang, a former member of the institute, the two men seemed to come to an understanding regarding the future direction of the nation’s highest research body.
