TUI Trip Report from Manchester (MAN) to Alicante, onboard the Boeing 767

Filmed: 20.06.2023

I haven’t flown on TUI since 2019, and on the 767 since 2018, so now was the perfect time to try it again and see what’s changed…

TUI’s prices for flight only deals are normally very expensive so finding a cheap(ish) one is quite difficult, especially when looking for a particular aircraft to fly on, luckily I found this flight for £90, although that’s still a very expensive price to pay, compared to the likes of EasyJet and Ryanair, to fly on a Boeing 767, which is becoming increasingly rare in Europe, it’s a bargain, so I couldn’t say no!

The Airport experience was very good as per with Manchester’s T2… it’s the one terminal I’ve never had a problem with about security, I’ve flown from it 4 times in the past year and on all occasions was through in under 10 mins, all at peak times too, although a few of the shops weren’t open since we got there around 4am, a Pret was enough for us!

Onboard… being honest the config seemed a little cramped, I do appreciate 2 by the window as opposed to 3, but it just seemed really tight, our reading lights for both the 2 of us didn’t work properly, and kept flickering… given TUI gave the seats a replacement in 2020, and that the reading light is controlled from the seat, I was disappointed by this… but other than that I couldn’t find anything to fault, I went to the toilet half way through the flight and it was in an acceptable condition, the air con worked which I appreciate in the humid conditions of summer… so although the onboard experience was overall good, I can see why TUI are phasing them out…

TUI are set to phase out both their 767s, G-OBYF and G-OBYK, and according to our first officer Carl, they are headed to China to become freighters with SF Airlines… their last commercial flights are set to take place at the end of October, and I imagine they’ll begin heading to China around November/December time… I don’t know the complete details but they are leaving the fleet and will be sad to see them go… below is more information about the aircraft I flew on, and what routes they operate, should you want to fly on one!
