How Researchers can Use the ERIC API to Export Search Results

ERIC has recently released a tool that many researchers have found to be very helpful—the ERIC API.

An API is a way of exporting data electronically. It is typically used to feed data into apps and websites and was designed for machine-to-machine communications. ERIC launched an API in order to share our 1.8 million records with developers who wanted to integrate our findings with their tools.

However, in working with other projects, we realized that the API was especially helpful to researchers conducting a systematic literature review. This video will demonstrate how you can use it for your literature reviews.

While ERIC has always been great in helping users find research and has developed tools to export findings to third party providers like RefWorks and EndNote, we heard a great deal of feedback that this was not sufficient. People were looking to export their work to an Excel file so they could take notes, figure out which work is relevant, and keep track of which articles they have read or screened out.
