IndieVelo - Sunday Medio Fondo - Session 3

The Sunday Medio Fondo is a way to both build strength and friendship with other indieVelo riders. You can do the Medio Fondo as a race or as a ride. The field size will be around 150–200 so there will be plenty of small groups to follow and ride with. There will be different courses each week. Some flat, some more hilly. We use Tier 1 (you must use a Smart Trainer, a heart rate monitor and register cadence) and riders that are flagged by the performance verification system will automatically removed (if so please send your .fit-file to George Gilbert for analysis and suggestions of how to avoid this in the future). The fastest riders can expect a finish time between 1:45-2:30.

0:00 - Race description and pen banter
5:45 - The race begins with a neutral zone start
8:00 - The end of the neutral zone ... where is Alex? Later I learned he had a disconnect near the start
11:45 - The peloton is in two before the first pass of the split road
13:30 - Some early solo attacks come and are brought back
20:00 - Rob catches bot Macleod with 90 km to go and a small gap on the chase group behind
40:30 - Philipp Winkler bot makes a big counter attack in the gutter from the chase. Rob follows.
1:20:20 - Philipp has built the biggest gap of the race: 36 seconds with 47 km left to race
2:04:00 - Our long 2-rider breakaway is closed down by Kasimir and Dennis bots
2:04:40 - Potential disaster on the last split road where I went one way and the three bots the other
2:10:30 - Kasimir finally catches the front. Now a group of four with 11 km left to race.
2:12:00 - Dennis and Kasimir drop me in teh rollers. Matthieu is coming in a group seconds behind.
2:14:00 - Workhorse Philipp drags us back to Dennis who has an 9 second gap at the front
2:20:00 - Back together at the front with four riderrs and 3.5 km left to race
2:22:30 - The final climb and descent to the finish. Rob then the camera on Matthieu.
