The FCC has recently added the Missing and Endangered Persons EAS Event (MEP Event Code) to the Part 11 documentation (or has plans to really soon). Like the Blue Alert, it will be completely optional for broadcasters, but new EAS equipment manufacturers have 12 months to maintain compliance.

For broadcasters with older EAS equipment or who do not want to pay for a software upgrade, the DASDEC II and DASDEC III can potentially have these changes made by the user without requiring a paid software upgrade, through the use of SSH commands and editing configuration files.
