Join me on my way to the northernmost point of Germany.

The SYLTEXPRESS is a double-ended ferry operated by FRS Syltfähre GmbH & Co. KG, which has been operating since 2005 on the route between Havneby on the island of Rømø in Denmark and List on the island of Sylt in Germany. The ferry was ordered by Förde Reederei Seetouristik (FRS) in May 2004 and was built by the Norwegian company Fiskerstrand Verft AS with construction number 51.

The ferry is 88 meters long and was designed for combined car and passenger transport. It has a vehicle deck on the main deck (deck 2) with five lanes that can carry up to 76 cars, and the middle three lanes with 166 lane meters are intended for trucks, extra-long, or extra-wide special transports. The clear height on the vehicle deck is 4.95 meters, and the ferry is also approved for the transport of hazardous goods.

The SYLTEXPRESS is designed for 599 passengers and is equipped with a fully air-conditioned saloon deck (deck 4) with 399 seats, an onboard restaurant, and a duty-free shop. The open decks of the saloon deck have 100 outside seats, two marine evacuation systems, and a winch platform for helicopters. On the open area of the crew deck (deck 5), there are 100 more outside seats.

The ferry's double-ended design reduces port berthing times as it no longer has to turn around in front of the berths. As a result, a more economical operation with sufficient frequency can be offered with only one ferry. The SYLTEXPRESS has a significantly higher top speed of 16 knots compared to its predecessor ships, shortening the crossing time from 50-55 to 35 minutes.

The remains of the station can still be seen today and are a popular destination for visitors interested in military history.
