[World Record] Crash Bandicoot 2 Any% in

I remember checking the speedrun leaderboards four years ago when I first got this game on PC to see what the speedruns looked like. I watched the World Record run by Mateusdec at the time and thought that run was perfect. I also followed CHAMBERSSENPAI’s journey to achieving the first-ever sub-40 run. It’s crazy to think that now four years later and after playing this category actively for seven months I’ve surpassed both of these incredible runs that I thought were unbeatable. What’s even crazier is that this run is almost a minute faster than Mateusdec's legendary run. I think this really shows how much depth games can have once players push them to the limits.

As for the run itself, the biggest areas for improvement should be pretty clear. People finally got what they’ve been joking about for years as Tiny instakill is now on the leaderboards. Sub-39 is definitely possible, but achieving it would require an almost flawless run. In this run I lost 20 seconds in Warp 2 and Warp 3 and had a lot of mistakes in Warp 5, which cost me another 20 seconds. Smaller time saves are scattered throughout the run, and in my opinion there isn’t a single level in this run that couldn’t be improved (ok maybe Snow Go is optimal). The game will get rough when Tiny instakill becomes mandatory for the World Record as it still only has about a 10–15% success rate.

I want to thank everyone in the Crash NST community who has supported me from the beginning. A special shoutout to CasuallyClutching for helping me develop new strategies and optimize Piston It Away’s cycles (which I obviously butchered in this run). Also, I feel a bit bad for taking his WR by abusing this stupid trick, but I promise to make up for it with a better run in the future. Who knows maybe he or someone else will come back to this category so I finally wouldnt be the only active NST 2 runner (I won't remove that follow message though).
