Randall/Synergy/Salvation Metal Module comparison

Описание к видео Randall/Synergy/Salvation Metal Module comparison

As I own 4 Metal-based Modules in this moment, I thought I´ll start a short comparison ;-)
I know there’s a lot more modules that are made for da metallll, but these can quite cover a huge range. For this vid I chose 2 riffs in a more modern metal style using a Drop A Baritone from Michael Kelly (love that guitar, it cuts damn good).
My personal thoughts:

The Fryette Pittbull would be my choice IF I had to choose one (if I got broke…). It´s versatile as hell (where you can be tortured in a thousand ways I guess?!). Pure it is so damn fat that you definitely have to cut some bass via the graphic EQ. You can achieve NuRock rectifier sounds easily, in fact closer than with most of the Rectifier-based modules that I owned in the past! Scooped mids is not my thing, but you can guess what this little faders are able to do…Put a Tube Screamer in front and you have a totally new beast! Low gain sounds are also absolutely adorable. I don’t talk blues or vintage here, but great Rock Tones.

The 1666 is a one trick pony…but that one trick is a tone that sits in the mix immeadetly! A little scooped in general, but in a good way. The mad voicing is just toooooo mad for my taste…unless you want to kill your ears.

The Mamba…hmmm…I had high expectations in terms of versatility. To my taste it is way to scooped in general. And if you put in all mid dips it is just dark mud. I love Pantera and for that kind of sound this module is kickass, but for the modern sounds of today not my cup of coffee. People with a heart for 80s and 90s scooped sounds may love this one!

The Überschall is a beast! The blue channel can cover the 6505+ thing to 97%…with the advantage of not being that noisy AND that you don’t need a tube screamer! Also it is the most „djenty“ module I had so far. It has the most outstanding „göng-ge-göng-göng-göng“ attack as you can hear in the vid. BUT you can also push the mids and get great Sevendust like Riff sounds! The red channel is a bit more aggressive and ballsier. As I had finished the clips I was a bit surprised how similar it sounded with the Fryette Clip. This would be my second choice if someone destroyed my first choice…

My own personal taste: Mids!!! I love mids, I need mids! And guitar sounds do as well, even the heavy ones. I prefer a growl in low open strings over a „göng“…give me a „gooong“! Also, as a producer I have to say that too scooped guitars just vanish in a healthy mix ;-)
