Configuring NVIDIA GPU with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro TV | 4K @ 144hz HDR10+ VRR | TCL Q7 | HDMI 2.1

Описание к видео Configuring NVIDIA GPU with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro TV | 4K @ 144hz HDR10+ VRR | TCL Q7 | HDMI 2.1

**PLEASE READ THESE NEW DISCOVERIES 9/14/24**
I recently discovered that using this DP to HDMI adapter with the Rocketfish cable mentioned in the video works amazing with these instructions. Never have had a single flicker since. I think the adapter helps to enable the DSC (Display Stream Compression) that isn't kicking into gear. I was having to manually do these instructions every time that a new set of NVIDIA drivers came out when using just the HDMI Cable. Plug cable into #1 DP port on GPU, and then plug Rocketfish 2.1 HDMI into TV & Adapter.

Also, see the additional instructions recently discovered in the paragraph below...

In NVCP on the G-Sync Tab:
For these Freesync Premium Pro TV's:
Try selecting only the first option, and select the option for full-screen - don't check #3.... then click Apply.
I think the only time you select #3 is if your display is authentic G-Sync. For these, leave 3 unchecked - I think that designates the "compatibility mode" Why no one has ever mentioned this is beyond me, I have been having to research this crap for months. Everything works like a charm now every time, and it retains the custom stuff in CRU without hassle.

4K 144hz HDR10 Gaming | G-SYNC & AMD FreeSync Premium Pro | NVIDIA Control Panel WORK-AROUND! TCL Q7 | Gaming Mode | MSI RTX 3090 | Ryzen 9 5950x

Configuring GSYNC to work properly with FREESYNC PREMIUM PRO | 4K @ 144hz | HDR10+ & VRR | TCL Q7 55 INCH | TCL MODEL 55Q750G | | HDMI 2.1 - Port #1

Problem: 144hz not showing in the list of options when selecting resolution in NVIDIA Control Panel & Windows Display Settings. Also display flickering, dropped picture, ghosting, and G-Sync not quite attaching properly.

Solution:
Custom Resolution Utility enables us to bypass the 120hz cap that NVIDIA Control Panel seems to have over FreeSync when VRR is enabled. Create your own custom resolution using stable parameters that have "passed" the test in the NVCP "Customize" section. If NVCP won't post the resolution in the list, we must do it ourselves.

I can hear Skwisgaar Skwigelf's voice from the show Metalocalypse:
"Variable Refresh Rate amz a Fickles Mistress Toki"

When reading around:
Supposedly you need an AMD GPU, and a certified DisplayPort cable for FreeSync Premium Pro to work correctly. (AMD GPU's with FS ; Nvidia GPU's with G-sync only etc...) They were probably referring to the new DisplayPort 2.1 standard, or to a specific instruction set within the AMD Graphics Card Software. Not exactly true, as you can see in this video. It sounds like it's just a marketing tactic to sell more "Gaming" monitors at a premium price, and to push people to buy more GPU's.

DisplayPort https://vesa.org/displayport-develope...

DP 1.4a has a 32 GBPS limit - and would show a black screen when GPU is under load. (opening games, etc...) - Not able to use full 10-bit color as a result. (Stuck at 8-bit)
DisplayPort version 2.1 will most likely be needed for 4k @ 240hz 10-Bit HDR b/c total bandwidth would exceed the amount of Display Stream Compression that the 1.4a standard is able to provide.

HDMI https://hdmiforum.org/specifications/

HDMI 2.1 has a 48 GBPS limit, and was able to hold steady when everything was applied. (IF you have a true Certified HDMI 2.1 cable that is 48gbps)
