Welcome to our channel! In this video, we explore the legendary Yathothkari Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram. According to Hindu mythology, a dispute over superiority between goddesses Saraswati and Lakshmi led to Saraswati's wrathful departure and subsequent interference in Brahma's yagna. Vishnu's intervention with his serpent Adishesha pacified Saraswati, who transformed into the river Vegavathi. This divine act bestowed Vishnu with the name Vegasetu.

Another fascinating story involves sage Thirumalisai and his disciple Kanikkannan. Through Thirumalisai's prayer, an old lady became young, marrying the Pallava king. When Kanikkannan refused to praise the king to rejuvenate him, they were banished. The city plunged into darkness until the deity Bhujangasayana Perumal returned with them, earning the name Yathothkari Perumal, meaning "one who accomplishes as requested."

The temple, one of the oldest Vishnu temples in Kanchipuram, is rich in history with inscriptions from the Chola and Vijayanagara periods detailing significant donations and festivals. Built during the Pallava era, the temple's architecture and ancient records make it a treasure trove of devotion and historical significance. Join us as we unravel the legends and history of Yathothkari Perumal Temple.
