As we climbed the mountain with Jesus that day,
we had no idea what awaited us.
The air was thin,
the path steep,
and our hearts were heavy with questions.
We had followed him for so long,
yet so much remained a mystery.
But then - everything changed.
There, on the mountaintop, his face shone like the sun,
his clothes dazzling white.
Moses and Elijah appeared, speaking with him.
It was as if heaven itself had broken through,
and we were standing on holy ground.
As usual, Peter wanted to build shelters,
to preserve the moment, make it last, and contain its wonder.
But how could we? This was beyond us.
And then the voice –
"This is my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him."
It changed us from the inside.
We fell to the ground, overcome by awe and fear.
In that moment, we glimpsed something eternal, something divine.
Jesus was not just our teacher or friend; he was the Son of God.
As we came down from the mountain, the world seemed different.
So different.
The ordinary felt sacred, and the path ahead, though uncertain,
was lit up by what we had seen.
We didn’t fully understand it then,
but we began to appreciate that even in darkness,
his glory shines.
Even when the road is hard, Jesus is with us.
