Zachary Bronson, a self-made rich man who rose up from nothing, mistakenly kisses the wrong woman outside a ball. It turns out to be widow of 3 years, Lady Holland Taylor. She thinks it was too dark for him to know who she is, so when a few days later he offers her a job, she plans to keep it secret forever.

Holly will move in to his house, with her daughter, Rose, and act as an etiquette teacher for he and his family for 1 year. He wants his sister to marry well, to ingratiate himself even more into the aristocracy. Since she currently lives with her in-laws, this does NOT go over well.

At Zachary's house Holly & Rose start to fall in love with his mom and sister right away. And Rose falls in love with Zachary, and he with her. He really enjoys being around Rose, and doting on her. Holly says he shouldn't spoil her, and he's like, WHY NOT??

Zachary and Holly spend time together during his lessons, and at family meals, and really start to get to know each other in a deeper way. He feels confident he could seduce her, but he knows if he does that, she will leave. And he really likes having her around...
