ITALIAN MOVIE REVIEWS - From THE NIGHT PORTER To THE SKIN - Liliana Cavani Returns To A WWII Story !

In this episode, which is part of my series, ITALIAN MOVIE REVIEWS, we reviewed LA PELLE (THE SKIN), which was directed by Liliana Cavani. It was based on the novel by Curzio Malaparte. The screenplay was by Liliana Cavani and Catherine Breillat.

The movie starred Marcello Mastroianni, Burt Lancaster, Claudia Cardinale, Alexandra King and Ken Marshall.

Liliana Cavani also explored WWII in her film THE NIGHT PORTER (1974), which starred Dirk Bogarde and Charlotte Rampling.

The film is about how America acted more like invaders of Italy during WWII, instead of liberators. The book and the film were both controversial when they came out. My guest and I dive deep into the themes, characters, performances, the history and more!
