Woodturning a Cypress crotch bowl on new Laguna Revo 1836

Описание к видео Woodturning a Cypress crotch bowl on new Laguna Revo 1836

I upgraded to the Laguna 1836 wood lathe from a Jet 1442.
I decided to make a video of my first turning on it. As it worked out it is the second turning.
This turning is from a branch that came off a Leland Cypress tree we had taken down. The pictures of the turning are taken on the stump left from the tree it came from. And laying on some of the branches as well. I have made goblets from the branches and they have had some nice wood inside.
My video setup is not that good but I tried. It wasn't till I was almost done that I made a bracket to place my camera at a much better angle. Also things moved a bit slow as doing video is much harder than I figured.
I have mostly done glue up turning which means I have more control over what the turning will end up looking like. I love to do segmented turnings.
But I have been inspired by a few fine woodturners on YouTube.
I have grown to like bug holes, cracks and other defects that you will find in a tree limb.

One the woodturners I consider to really know how to bring the best out of what I used to call firewood is well worth the effort to check out.

Search for madronawoodworks on YouTube and sit back and enjoy
