Our ADRA team delivered humanitarian aid to the bombed St. Panteleimon Hospital in the city of Sumy, where 10 people lost their lives and more than 22 were injured.

Early in the morning, we were greeted in the city by an air raid alarm and anti-aircraft fire. Residents pointed to the sky, showing us a "Shahed" drone ominously circling above the city.

Thanks to the collaboration with our partners at ADRA Sweden, Direct Ukraine, and donors from OneMed, we managed to procure and deliver a truckload of medical supplies worth €77,000 after a journey of more than 3,000 kilometers.

The hospital's director, Volodymyr Poceluyev, thanked us and stated in an interview: "From OneMed's offerings, we selected more than 40 items of medical supplies that we urgently need: various sterile and bandaging materials, infusion sets, and other essentials for surgery and traumatology, enabling us to care for patients in our catchment area, which serves over 200,000 people. Given the constant attacks on this region, we are dealing with numerous complex injuries caused by gunfire, explosions, or mines, affecting both civilians and soldiers."

As the truck was too large to navigate between the pavilions to the warehouse, we had to transport the pallets into the hospital premises using our van. The local ADRA volunteers and hospital staff provided invaluable assistance with this task.

Meanwhile, the hospital had already cleared the rubble and was working on sealing the large hole in the building caused by a missile explosion. An entire floor had collapsed. Among the debris, we noticed a cross, but upon closer inspection, we realized it was only a stand with burnt-out monitors from the intensive care unit.

We left the city before nightfall, but these brave healthcare workers and residents remain to continue their vital work.
