The residents had resisted in its early stage of construction because it could not be envisaged that it will yield tremendous advantages to local.This ring road has ease out the life of many as one doesn’t have to move through the congested areas and bazars while exiting from Peshawar. Officially known as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway 13. It is a 45 kilometers long (28 mi) orbital highway located KPK, Pakistan. The ring road serves as a bypass for heavy transport vehicles and facilitates Afghanistan-bound traffic.
It also serves as the terminus for the Peshawar – Charsada Road, Peshawar-Bara Road, Peshawar-Dalazak Road and Jamrud-Warsak Road. On April, 27, 2010, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson inaugurated a project to reconstruct 25 kilometers of the Peshawar Southern Ring Road at a ceremony in Peshawar, Pakistan. The U.S.-financed project provided ₨ 2.1 billion (US$13 million) in upgrades to the road. The US Ambassador stated the road would provide ease traffic between Charsadda and Hayatabad, improve security, and generate greater trade opportunities for the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas,". This project is a tangible outcome of the Strategic Dialogue and underscores the shared interests and long-term partnership between the U.S. Government and the Government of Pakistan.
The Ring Road is widened and improved from two lanes to three lanes, including construction of service roads, green belts, center medians, and drainage on both sides.
