Do Or Die - Higher (feat. Kanye West) 4K REMASTER

4K remastered video for Do Or Die's 2004 single Higher featuring Ye, a gem off of their self titled project D.O.D!

The existing upload for this track is in extremely pixelated 240p with crappy audio, so I decided to make a remastered version that does the song justice for today's standards.

To create this, I bought the CD the video came with, ripped it onto my computer, and then used AI upscale technology to remaster it in 4K. In addition, I also used a lossless rip of the track for the best possible audio quality. Really happy with how it turned out!

If you're unfamiliar with Do Or Die they're longtime veterans of the Chicago hip-hop scene, and were hugely influential in the 90s alongside people like Twista and Common. They helped popularize this sort of choppy and faster style of rapping that Twista was also known for, but it was simultaneously super smooth at the same time.

The song that plays at the start in '96 was a track named Po Pimp featuring Twista that peaked at number 22 on the billboard hot 100 that year, and got them talking with labels. Unfortunately though as you can see though they didn't exactly get the attention and funding they deserved at the time.

When they connected with Kanye in 04 for this track it was a big moment for the city from what I understand. I mean in 2004 Kanye was just on fire with his production, he really mastered the art of flipping these old soul samples.

The sample on this track is from a 1981 Teddy Pendergrass song named You"re My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration. I love how Kanye used the choir during the outro it's easily my favorite part of the whole track.
