Can you show me plans for the work on Corporation St Rotherham and associated roads around it that are being altered, how much its costing and who is funding it?

Response
The Corporation Street/Upper Millgate redesign will be a key link between the existing Town Centre to the exciting attractions on Forge Island. The current oversized carriageway will be narrowed to 6.5m to give back sizeable areas of the road to create wider footways to the West.

Greening where possible, planters and ground level planting will soften the length of the street, new seating and street furniture will provide places for people to pause and enjoy views of the Minster and adjacent attractions.

Following a successful temporary de signalisation of the Ship Hill Junction this will be made permanent, decluttering the street scene and making the junction more efficient especially for bus services.

Following extensive consultation with Sight and Sound the scheme will incorporate several design features in the Western footway to create a safe route for them to train their members to navigate from the Interchange to their Head Office and Riverside House.

The works to Corporation Street are estimated to cost £3.2m and are to be funded by a Government Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government award covering 90% of the funding required to bring forward the scheme, 5% South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and 5% Rotherham Council.

This is part of a larger scheme including Riverside Gardens which is under a contract with CR Reynolds worth £8m, plan of full scheme, Appendix 1.
