UAG Active Watch Strap Review - Urban Armor Gear's Build Quality is Second- to-None!

Описание к видео UAG Active Watch Strap Review - Urban Armor Gear's Build Quality is Second- to-None!

The one thing I like about Urban Armor Gear, or UAG for short is that they are not afraid to be different. In fact, most of their products are incredibly unique looking to the point where they are almost ungainly.

The UAG Active Watch strap looks different and is better suited by those who spend lots of time in the water.

If all you do work at a computer all the time, this wouldn’t be an Apple Watch strap I would get because the buckle may get annoying over time. I say “may” because it really depends on how big your wrist is.

I paid $80 for my Urban Armor Gear Active Watch Strap. Is it chepaer on Amazon!

At MREH, Monty and I base our reviews on actual usage. We’ve actually had a hard time trying to figure out what to review for the watch straps because:

There are tons
There isn’t much to them.

BUT Monty and I think we’ve come across enough criteria to actually review watch straps well.

When it comes to design the UAG Active Watch strap is basically a wide piece of nylon with a few doohickey’s sewn into it. UAG has sewn in a patch on the strap indicating that it is ISO22810 compliant with a rating of 50m which is the same rating that the Apple Watch Series 5 has.

This patch seems a little odd to me given that it’s just a piece of metal and nylon but UAG felt the need to constantly remind you that you can get this strap wet.

It is wider than Apple’s standard sport strap and can handle wrists with circumferences up to 21 cm.

The stainless steel buckle on the strap is large and aggressive looking and after 4 months of usage, hasn’t shown any large scratches or nicks.

Now one of the differentiating features of the Active Watch strap is the fact that UAG uses their own custom designed lugs. And they are tight. In fact, out of all the 3rd party watchstraps I’ve used, this UAG strap has one of the best fits. The lug latches in the lug body are almost as tight as the stock Apple ones.

Now are they tight enough to warrant a $60 dollar price tag? Or $80 bucks where I’m from? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Working out with the Active Watch strap wasn’t bad. The weight of the of strap is a mildly noticeable BUT my biggest gripe with this product is that after you break a sweat in it, it takes a while for it dry off.

Not a big deal if you’re out on the ocean all day but a sweat sesh at lunch during your workday is going to be followed by several hours of what I call “moist wrist”.

Now using this strap in an office setting will get annoying. The large stainless steel buckle, as badass as it looks, will be noticeable. You will feel a bit of pressure on the inside of your wrist as your typing.

Now if your wrists are bigger than mine, you may not notice that as the buckle will sit higher up on your wrist. I’m going to call this annoyance “bucklelitus”.

So between “moist wrist” and “bucklelitus” there would be a couple of hours each day where I couldn’t use my Apple Watch because the strap was annoying.

BUT if you don’t workout and don’t use work at a computer all day long, this strap is quite comfortable. Then again, most straps would be.

Which is a bad thing for an accessory because accessories are suppose to help you use your devices, not annoy you.
