Women took pride in their facial hair, sometimes even enhancing it with mascara, while beardless men with delicate features were also highly admired.

But beauty is often shaped by the world around it. As Persian elites traveled to Europe, everything began to shift. Western beauty ideals seeped in, slowly erasing what was once celebrated and Persian women were told that what once made them regal should now be hidden!!
