Eurocopter X3 – The fastest helicopter in the world / Maailman nopein helikopteri

Eurocopter (nykyisin Airbus Helicopters) X3 oli koelentohelikopteri, jonka avulla tutkittiin miten helikopteri voisi lentää nopeammin ja edullisemmin. Laite teki 7. kesäkuuta 2013 helikoptereiden epävirallisen nopeusennätyksen lentämällä 472 kilometrin tuntinopeudella. Nyt laite on museoituna Marseillen lentoaseman vieressä Saint-Victoret'n pienessä ilmailumuseossa, joka on vähän kuin lähellä olevan Airbusin helikopteritehtaan tehdasmuseo – museossa on muitankin jänniä kopteriyksilöitä.

Jari Mäkinen kertoo videolla paitsi X3-koekopterista, niin myös helikopterien tekniikasta ja ennen kaikkea nopeasti lentävien koptereiden tekniikasta.

Eurocopter (now Airbus Helicopters) X3 was an experimental helicopter designed to investigate and test how helicopters could achieve higher speeds and greater cost efficiency.

On June 7, 2013, the aircraft set an unofficial helicopter speed record by flying at a speed of 472 kilometers per hour (255 knots; 293 mph).

Currently, the aircraft is on display at a small aviation museum near Marseille Airport in Saint-Victoret. This museum is sort of the factory museum of the nearby Airbus Helicopters facility and features also other special-use helicopter models.

In the video, Jari Mäkinen discusses not only the X3 test helicopter but also the technology behind helicopters, especially that of high-speed helicopters.
